It has been held in Cologne, Germany since 2009 and is one of the biggest dates in the digital marketing business calendar. This year, DMEXCO 2019 will host some 41,000 attendees, 1,000 exhibitors, and over 500 key speakers from all over the world.

DMEXCO is held in Cologne, Germany. The event will be at the Koelnmesse exhibition centre, reachable from the Cologne-Bonn Airport within 20 minutes!

First of all, the motto for DMEXCO 19 is “Trust in You”. What does that mean? “Trust is the indispensable basis for the success of the digital industry,” says Matthias Wahl, President of DMEXCO’s brand owner, the German Association for the Digital Economy (BVDW e.V.). From transparency with user data to the leap of faith required to imagine (and effect) a new and innovative business future, it’s a theme that will be recurrent throughout the conference. “We will be presenting everything that can strengthen confidence in the digital future,” adds Wahl. We can’t wait!
Speaking of trust, and following British Airways’ £183 M fine from the ICO (not to mention Facebook’s year), expect GDPR and privacy regulations to be on the tip of most people’s tongues. Expect sessions dedicated to understanding the new legislation, how it is being enforced, what impact the new data regulation landscape has had on customer behaviour online, and what it means for innovation in the online space.
Automation in 2019
“The industry needs the confidence of society that digitisation will bring more advantages than disadvantages,” said the DMEXCO press release announcing the theme. And, according to respondents of a DMEXCO 19 survey, AI is the biggest trend of 2019. Putting two and two together, you can reasonably presume that AI technology, from chatbots to online ad creation platforms, will be front and centre. The question is no longer just what can be automated, it is what can be automated in a responsible, transparent and mutually beneficial manner.
