What’s Everyone Going to be Talking About?
Got that? Now that you know what’s going on, time to delve a little further into what will actually be discussed in the conference. As important as actually getting to DMEXCO, is knowing what is going to be the hot topic when you’re in there, and preparing how you’re going to talk about them is no bad idea… So, here are the 5 top tips we’ve gathered for you.
Trust in You
First of all, the motto for DMEXCO 19 is “Trust in You”. What does that mean? “Trust is the indispensable basis for the success of the digital industry,” says Matthias Wahl, President of DMEXCO’s brand owner, the German Association for the Digital Economy (BVDW e.V.). From transparency with user data to the leap of faith required to imagine (and effect) a new and innovative business future, it’s a theme that will be recurrent throughout the conference. “We will be presenting everything that can strengthen confidence in the digital future,” adds Wahl. We can’t wait!
Speaking of trust, and following British Airways’ £183 M fine from the ICO (not to mention Facebook’s year), expect GDPR and privacy regulations to be on the tip of most people’s tongues. Expect sessions dedicated to understanding the new legislation, how it is being enforced, what impact the new data regulation landscape has had on customer behaviour online, and what it means for innovation in the online space.
Automation in 2019
“The industry needs the confidence of society that digitisation will bring more advantages than disadvantages,” said the DMEXCO press release announcing the theme. And, according to respondents of a DMEXCO 19 survey, AI is the biggest trend of 2019. Putting two and two together, you can reasonably presume that AI technology, from chatbots to online ad creation platforms, will be front and centre. The question is no longer just what can be automated, it is what can be automated in a responsible, transparent and mutually beneficial manner.
To that end, and while we’re on the subject, allow us to point you in the direction of our own Automation-based sessions. ‘A PPC Automation Masterplan for Your Business’, by Spaceboost and Google, at which we will kindly demonstrate how AI-empowered PPC can boost your business, vertical by vertical 😉
Disruption and Inspiration
After putting the above in your diaries as an absolute priority, make sure to save a good amount of time to dedicate to thoroughly explore the FUTURE Park (formerly the Startup Village) – where there will be circa 200 start-ups eager to show you the latest and greatest innovations from the world of digital marketing. If that’s not a formula for certain inspiration, I don’t know what is. It’s also a good recipe for finding your next – perfect – business partner, so go with an open mind. Just because someone is fresh at DMEXCO doesn’t mean they’re not going places.
Take the Pulse of the Digital Marketing Industry
As the flagship event of the digital marketing for the year, there is no better place to inform yourself so comprehensively (or so quickly) on where the industry is heading, and to get to know the principal concerns and latest user problems that will be driving innovation in 2020. To name-drop a little, here’s a few of the industry leaders that will be contributing to this debate – AdAlliance, Adobe, Facebook, FreeWheel, Hybris, Microsoft, Outbrain, SevenOne Media, Spotify, Spryker, Taboola, Teads, Verizon Media, Xing, Asana, AT&T, About You, Baidu, Intelligent Apps/MyTaxi, Slack, … and Spaceboost, of course.
And that’s not to mention the long tail of up and coming businesses we’ll all be talking about next year. In short, don’t worry if it feels like you’re lost in a whirlwind of business insights, wild predictions, and elevator pitches – if you’re walking around, talking to lots and lots of people, and taking it all in, you’ll be getting a feel for the state of the digital industry that is difficult to replicate anywhere else.
See you there! (Hall 6.1, Stand D038)
